2000 Message: How can 40 years zip by so innocuously? Yet time and distance have failed to dampen the memories of my senior year with each of you. Cautiously resurrecting my annual book brings back a flood of cherished mementos and wishes. Just like Stan probably wrote in your annual, he gave me the same instructions: "Hey Joe, have a good time. OK." I complied. Bonnie, my lovely & gracious bride of 37 years is my "better half" by at least 25%. Some days, maybe even more. We have four children: my son Bryan, and three daughters: Aleta, Bethany, Joy. Bryan and Aleta are married and have their own families. Bethany and Joy are still in college. We will have 5 grandchildren by reunion time. They all live her in the Portland area and are a precious delight. The two oldest grandchildren are twins; Daniel and Sarah. Just this passing tidbit: Bonnie and I are both left-handed. So far all 3 of the grandchildren in my son's family are also left-handed. My father, Harold, just celebrated his 90th birthday. He still preaches in a church in Salem, Or., about 1 hour south of us. He just bought another computer because the old "486" was just too slow! I am employed by LSI Logic, the dominant manufacturer of ASICS chips in the world market. Systems-On-A-Chip is our hallmark. We are a major supplier of chips for the digital camera, communications, and Sony Playstation markets. I am in the facilities electrical division. My hobbies are still music, electronics, and grandkids - but not necessarily in that order. Our family is very active in a large suburban church her in Northeast Portland. It is well know as "Crossroads Church." God has blessed us immeasurably with health, friends, family, and prosperity. My sincerest wish for each of you is simple, yet perhaps profound; seek and follow the Lord for his blessings are boundless. If you are ever in Portland, I will cherish a call or visit from you.
2010 Message: Bonnie and I will be celebrating our 48th anniversary this coming June 22nd. We are living near a remote village in an area of Oregon known as the "High Dessert." We are about 100 miles due east of Portland. Our estate is situated high up on a mountain side with a panoramic view of many of the Oregon Cascade mountains. With six feet of recent snow, the views are spectacular and breath taking. Retirement is great. We have four children and ten grandchildren.
