Sharon Elaine Spier, 47, of Rt 2, Gering, died October 31, at the Scottsbluff hospital.  Following her wishes there will be no memorial services.  Cremation was held at Cheyenne.  Gering Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 31, 1942, at Hodgenville, KY, to Ferrill (Slim) and Bertha (Bert) Spier.  When she was six weeks old, the family settled in Banner County.  She attended a one-room country grade school and one at Harrisburg High School.  The family moved to Gering in 1957.  She graduated from Gering High School in 1960 and began her lifetime career in office work as secretary and bookkeeper at Lyman Insurance.  She worked for Crocker Claims Service, Kramer Motors and Jirdon Agri-Chem.  Since July 1982, she has been employed at the County Assessors Office.

She was a past member of the Scottsbluff Walking Blood Bank, Gering American Legion Auxiliary,VFW Auxiiary, and Eagles Auxiliary.  She was a contributing member of the Riverside Zoological Society, Nebraskans for Public Television and the Panhandle Humane Shelter.

Survivors include her mother Bertha Bartlett of Gering; and her sister and nephew, Ann and Levi Lee of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming.  She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather, John Bartlett.
