50 years is a lot to squeeze in a small space but I'll keep this short, maybe.
I've moved around a little and have had the opportunity to try some different occupations. I have always been thirsty for education of a more technical type and entered different fields to satisfy this urge.
I taught school in Torrington 9-12 grades. I started their vocational dept and stayed with that 7 years teaching welding, machines and mechanics. I loved the kids and loved watching them develop. I left this to go into the tool business and traveled from Scottsbluff to Casper, settling near Casper and selling tools mostly to the mines and oilfields.
I sold that business and bought 2 mini marts in Casper where I rented cars and trucks as well. After selling these my brother talked me into going to California for a few years. I was a service manager for a very busy shop for a couple years and decided to get into a more casual atmosphere. I bought a bait and tackle store, started building custom fishing rods repaired large nets for fishing boats. My need to use my hands escalated to making all kinds of fishing tackle which I wholesaled to other tackle stores.
When I decided to leave California, I moved to Missouri and bought a little general store in a laid back community, big mistake! From there I went to work for a retail tool company and within 6 months became a regional manager over 53 stores. I don't care if I ever see another airplane, it was fun at first, but too many hassles now. I retired 6 years ago but they call me back every once in awhile.
Now I am helping with grandkids, fishing a little and rebuilding a boat. I make a campstove for backpackers that I have the grandkids involved in to learn a little about business. They make them and sell to people on eBay, they get all the proceeds and keep the books as well. My biggest challenge is trying to relearn 6th grade, so I can help with homework and maintain a little stature.
I miss Gering a lot and get back less than I want to. I have a daughter in Scottsbluff and one in Colorado. Both are doing well.
My favorite places there were
Arrowhead,
Tom & Jerry's,
Dash Inn,
Lake Minatare,
Grove Theatre,
the swimming pool,
the skating rink.
Who couldn't miss dragging main in Scottsbluff and Terry's Drive In theatre?

I assist with Girl Scouts, I am an ex Cub Scout Pack Leader. AWANA and girls basketball keeps the kids and I both busy. I am an active member of the Texas Border Sheriffs Coalition and spend some time watching the cameras for drug dealers and illegals crossing the border.
I'm an active member of a group in Missouri trying to stop bullying in schools. This had a big impact on my performance in school and life in general. While turning the other cheek is important, it doesn't always work at the time. I hope you teachers are watching for this, it's very hard to recognize most of the time.
That's pretty much my story, it's been interesting and rewarding. I truly feel blessed to have been able to do all the things I've managed to do. I said I'd keep this short, maybe.
Thanks to everyone who has emailed me since I found the site. It's great to hear from you, everyone is so friendly!
Ummm, no spell checker, good luck!

I'm Late! I'm Late! This is an important date! Happy belated Birthday Emily! I get up early every morning and clean off my computer of all notices, then don't see it again the rest of the day. That's my excuse, but I hope you had a great day and many more in the years to come. Stay healthy, that's the trick!

Such a fun loving happy individual. You did so much for our class and brought smiles to everyone as we made our way through school. The world needs more people like you to ease the tensions of everyday life and giving us a light to guide our own lives. Rest in Peace, God bless you, you are missed.
