Our beloved mom, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend passed peacefully at home on Nov. 12, 2006, after a courageous fight with cancer. Carolyn was raised in Gering, Nebraska. On Oct. 2, 1960 Carolyn married Sam Burkman. They moved to Sacramento in 1962. In 1974, Carolyn went to school to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She graduated in Jan. 1976 and was on the Dean's List. She started work at a family practice at UCD. She worked there for 27 years, retiring in 2004. Carolyn was awarded the Citation of Excellence on May 11, 1994. She was also awarded the family Practice LVN of the Year for her outstanding service and devotion to their program. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Larry) Welton, grandchildren Joseph and Ellyn Welton, son Mark (Nancy) Burkman, grandchildren Blair, Eileen, Blake, Bradley and Brian Burkman, parents LeRoy and Lorraine Elliott, sister Judy (Dean) Douglas, brother Dennis (Marlena) Elliott and special friend of 43 years, Jackie Lopez. Services will be held at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at 10:00 am.
